We Care - Helping Others!

We Care October 2011

Stand Down in September

The Stand Down event went well with a between 250-350 homeless veterans benefiting. Volunteers helped by manning booths, registering veterans, escorting those who need the extra help, or just talking with these extremely interesting people. This rewarding event was held September 9th. Through 11th. It also involved setup before the 9th and breakdown after the event. I want to help again. These worthwhile people gave so much for our country. They deserve better! For more info check out -->

CropWalk 2011

Another worthwhile cause is coming up. We are going to participate in the CropWalk that will be held on October 9th at Core Creek Park at 12:45 p.m. There are hungry people everywhere. They starve here in Lower Bucks as well as throughout the world. A portion of the funds raised goes to hunger related efforts in Lower Bucks. Some of the funds goes to education efforts to improve food production in the regions affected. If they can improve their production they will have less need for outside help. You can help in a number of ways.

  1. You can register to walk. When you registered you are given the opportunity to donate. Any donation is welcome but is not a requirement. All those who walk with us must be registered.

  2. You can contribute to the split plate collection. The split plate collection will go toward this effort until the event is completed.

  3. You can get a new UUFLB t-shirt! This t-shirt will not be specific to the CropWalk but a general purpose UUFLB design.

Our first principle says that we affirm and promote...the inherent worth and dignity of every person. All people have value. Compassion for the unfortunate dictates that we help. Help others to survive by being a part of this effort. Think back to a time when you were suffering from hunger. If this has never happened to you then you are indeed fortunate. Did you know there are more hungry people in the world than there the populations of the European Union , Canada and USA combined?

Hunger is the world's number one health risk.

Be a part of something that will help. Participate on Sunday Oct. 9th with us. Get a t-shirt! Contribute and get others to help as well. Check out our new T's.
